Export Services
The Fine Art Trade Guild is an Accredited Trade Organisation (ATO), enabling access
to export support for the Art & Framing Industry from UKTI. The Guild researches worldwide markets
and exhibitions to establish priorities for developing UK exports of
art and framing related goods and services. It positively invites feedback from members
and others to assist this process.
UKTI assistance helps the Guild to deliver a package of support for the
art and framing sector, including access to grant aid for overseas exhibiting. The Guild charges a management fee per application which contributes toward the cost of providing a
number of services. These include export seminars, designed to develop skills
in exporting and exhibiting to best effect. They are open to participants in the Guild’s export programme and to all Guild members without charge. The Guild co-operates with other ATOs who support interiors, giftware and photographic exhibitions and missions and have identified opportunities for companies
exporting art and framing goods and services.
From April 2006 there have been a number of changes to the International Business Schemes (IBS) funding package which affect both the amount of Grant Aid available and the delivery mechanism. Funding will only be offered to "new exporters", currently defined as companies that actively export less than 10% of turnover or 25% combined active and reactive exports, except for events in Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Gulf Co-operation Council states, Indonesia
Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam and India where funding will be available for "new to market" exporters.
UK Trade & Investment International
Business Schemes
UK Trade & Investment is the Government organisation
that supports companies in the UK wishing to trade internationally as well as overseas enterprises seeking to locate in the UK.
International Business Schemes supersede the SESA scheme
(Support for Exhibitions and Seminars Abroad) under which grants were made in previous years. IBS is available to small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) only.
UKTI delivers its range of support through Accredited Trade Organisations,
Business Links and Regional Development Authorities. The Guild urges companies
to explore local support availability as well as tapping into its sectoral
expertise.
Where an ATO has designated an exhibition a 'key event' there will be a flat rate grant of £1000, providing UKTI Terms and Conditions are met. You must apply to the ATO for funding for these shows; they will forward your details to your regional UKTI team who will contact you to assess your suitability for the scheme.
In addition to the funding for designated key events there is also a flat rate grant of £1000, available through regional UKTI teams for exhibitions where there is no ATO support (SOLO funding).
You must take up all non-chargeable offers of assistance from the ATO or UKTI body that are intended to be complementary to the offer of trade fair support.

UKTI Supported Exhibitions
The following have been targeted for support in 2008 – 2009 and identified by the Guild as having varying degrees of interest for the art and framing sector. Feedback from businesses that attend these and other exhibitions is welcomed and will help the Guild support developing exporters.
Exhibition name - Accredited Trade Organisation
Ambiente, Frankfurt – BJGF
Artexpo, New York – Fine Art Trade Guild
Art Fair Europe, Bad Salzuflen – Fine Art Trade Guild
Maison et Objet, Paris – BEDG
Quadrum SACA, Bologna – Fine Art Trade Guild
West Coast Art & Framing Show , Las Vegas – Fine Art Trade Guild
Important note:
The Spring Fair Birmingham and Autumn Fair Birmingham are recognised as
international exhibitions with significant art and framing halls. It is
worth considering developing exports through UK exhibitions as well as
overseas. The relative strengths of shows in attracting the right quality
of international buyers for a company’s purposes can fluctuate.
Some serve only the markets in which they are situated and others are
situated in a country for historical reasons, but reach a worldwide trading
universe.
