The art and framing industry congratulates Vic Faulkner on being presented with an MBE on the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. Though Vic has spent 50 years as an international marketing consultant to the picture framing and art industry, the honour was presented for his 51 years’ work with people with learning disabilities.
Vic, who has a son, Michael, with Down’s Syndrome, was chairman of Amersham and Chesham Mencap and served on the charity’s national council. He went on to found the Amersham branch of the Home Farm Trust, which provides homes for children with learning difficulties when they reach adulthood. Vic also helped form Chiltern Friends for Special People, a charity that raises funds for people with special needs.
Vic began his career working for a Birmingham photoframe manufacturer, then started his own similar business in 1962. From 1981 he has been a consultant, with roles including European Marketing Manager for Craft Inc.
